DGM – Digital Gauge Measurement System
The DGM—Digital gauge measurement system is an optional accessory for all DQM cross profile measurement devices. It is the task of the DGM to measure the track gauge according to the cross profile drawing. Using a precision laser, the track gauge is measured 14 mm below the top edge of the rail. Using a data line, the measurement values are then transferred to the DQM measurement head.

Features
- Easy to assemble on the boom
- Digital measurement
- Direct data transfer to the measurement head
- Measurement head must be prepared for the track gauge measurement
Installation
The DGM is attached to the end of the stabiliser and replaces the DQM tensioning hook. The measuring device is ready for operation after connecting the data line.
Measuring procedure
The track gauge is measured after recording the cross profile. If the measuring head is already prepared for using the DGM, it is automatically detected and the user is prompted to start the track gauge measurement.
The track gauge measured using the laser distance sensor is transferred directly to the DQM measuring head. The material specific linear expansion is corrected and then saved to the memory card. The measuring result is allocated to the previously completed cross profile measurement.
Saving
The track gauge measured is transferred directly to the DQM measuring head. The material specific linear expansion is corrected and then saved to the memory card. The measuring result is allocated to the previously completed cross profile measurement.
Analysis
The recorded track gauge is assessed by the DQM Professional software while importing the data from the memory card. Only then will the specified target track gauge (e.g. 1,435.0 mm) be entered in the calculation which allows internationally use of the DGM.
Conicity program
The calculation program developed by Deutsche Bahn AG for determining the equivalent conicity can be combined with DQM Professional. To structure its use as easily as possible, the command for calculating the equivalent conicity is executed directly by the DQM Professional. The calculated conicity value can then be saved to a file and archived.
These values describe the cross acceleration of the train (one coach) during the crossing. For German high speed railway lines the equivalent conicity is decisive for the maximum permitted rail speeds.
